Program Notes

It is completely fitting that a former student of the Bruckner Conservatory offer this fine tribute to Austrian composer Anton Bruckner. In honor of the master composer, Doss uses a rich, romantic harmonic language throughout, skillfully building moments of climax and repose. The title, St. Florian, is based upon the place where Bruckner composed. St. Florian is also the patron saint of fire fighters, thus making this a fine selection to play in honor of everyday heroes as well.
