Program Notes

The Indiana University of Pennsylvania Wind Ensemble, Dr. Jack Stamp, director of bands and chairman of the Music Department, performed this selection. Composer Chandler Wilson conducted the ensemble.

- Program Note from publisher

Spirit of Hope ... features a euphonium and alto saxophone solo borrowing the spiritual melody from We Shall Overcome and a trumpet solo from Amazing Grace. The feeling of triple versus duple meter is common throughout the concert piece generating energy and rhythmic complexity throughout.

- Program Note from Florida State University Concert Band concert program, 7 February 2022
