Program Notes

Songs Without Words was commissioned by the Wisconsin Chapter oft the College Band Directors National Association and dedicated to James Arrowood, professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The commission was to honor Mr. Arrowood for his years of leadership, inspiration and service to the art of band conducting and teaching. The composer states that he wrote this multi-movement work to "reflect the strength of character, spirit, intellect and goodwill of his close friend and colleague, James Arrowood."
