Program Notes

The title, A Song of Hope, is significant in two ways. First , the work was written in memory of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings, which took place in December 2012, and it evokes both a deep sadness for the losses that were suffered and hope for a better future. Second, the title suggests the work's formal structure: a modified AABA song form. As in many songs, the melodies are easily identified.
