Program Notes
A trombone smear in ragtime style, this is a delightful find. Written for a jazz band in 1918 under the pseudonym Abe Losch, it sounds as modern as if it had been written today.
- Program Note from publisher
Ideal as a trombone section feature, this composition was originally written as a one- step for early 20th Century jazz pioneer Earl Fuller and His Famous Jazz Band. Conveying the spirit and playfulness of ragtime, this setting was crafted from a piano score of the work; thus, many of the rhythms have been simplified and the chromatic figures have been given to the trombone section as smears.
