Program Notes

Siegfried is the name of a warrior in Germanic mythology, widely known as a dragon-killing hero in Germany and the Nordic countries.

This work depicts the early life of Siegfried, growing up in the royal palace as prince of the Nederland, his boyhood journey to defeat the Nibelungen in Norway, and later using his courage to defeat and kill the dragon Fafnir.
