Program Notes

The Oregon Symphonic Band commissioned American composer Ralph Ford to write a work to celebrate both our performance at the eighty-first American Bandmasters Association convention in March 2015, and our upcoming 30th anniversary. His composition She Flies With Her Own Wings, the motto of the State of Oregon, honors three of our most famous bodies of water: movement one depicts the mighty Columbia River, movement two the deep stillness of Crater Lake, and movement three the rushing Rogue River.
