Ron Dekker
Biography
Ron Dekker (b. 18 November 1933, Longmont, Colo.) is an American composer, trumpeter and conductor.
After being a trumpeter with the U.S. Air Force Band in Washington, D.C., he studied at Pennsylvania State University and at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He then served as chairman of the music department at Mt. Aloysius (Pennsylvania) Junior College. After Mt. Aloysius terminated its music department, he taught at Juniata (Pennsylvania) College for two years.
Dekker was also director of the concert band at the Altoona campus of Pennsylvania State University and was music director and arranger for the Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship Pageant. For many years, he was been a guest conductor and adjudicator at concert and stage band festivals throughout the eastern United States.
