Program Notes

River Town Jubilee was commissioned in 2015 by the Dardanelle High School Wind Ensemble in Dardanelle, Arkansas. Dardanelle sits on the shore of the Arkansas River, and like many river towns, the waterway was a huge part of the town's life and development during the 19th century. Steamboats, barges, and other vessels traveled up and down the river, bringing supplies and goods and providing transportation to and from the state's major cities. Inspired by this river town, River Town Jubilee reflects the excitement and hope that the river provided then and continues to provide today. Enjoy the ride to Dardanelle!
