Program Notes
Ring the Bell was inspired by the composer's diagnosis of colorectal cancer in June 2022. It is about the journey of cancer and the reward of "ringing the bell" once radiation is complete. The work includes fragments of hymns, including the composer's mother's favorite, Morning Has Broken. So many of us have been touched by cancer. This music is for us all.
