Program Notes
Brilliant woodwind passages, colorful percussion and strong melodic statements fuel this resounding composition, inspired by the expressive and emotionally charged music of the early Greek Orthodox Church. Woodwinds and percussion ring out to vividly introduce the melodic content as it passes through many variations in style and tonal color, gradually slowing as the strong ending approaches, yielding a powerful final chord.
