Program Notes

Many studies have found remains of now extinct sea creatures that lived in what used to be the Tethys Sea. That sea has since shifted and dried up into what we now call the Sahara Desert. These fossils are all that is left of an entire body of water that existed long before the human even emerged. The idea that parts of our "greatest desert" used to be lush, green and home to some of the oldest sea creatures is truly fascinating to me. That, and I am personally a big fan of the double harmonic minor scale

Performance Notes

The backing track can be used as a rehearsal tool, part of the performance, or played as a piano part. It is meant to provide a steady beat and little extra harmony, but the piece can be played without it.
