R. Duane Hendricks

Biography

R. Duane Hendricks is a Canadian composer, conductor, pianist and trombonist.

He has studied at MacPhail College of Music, the University of Minnesota, Brandon University and the University of Calgary, and has earned the degrees Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music. He has 20 years of experience as an instructor at junior and senior high and university levels in Alberta, the Northwest Territories, British Columbia, Manitoba and Minnesota.

Mr. Hendricks's specialty as a composer is the wind ensemble, tending to write tuneful music. He concentrates mainly on the brass, percussion, and woodwind instruments, utilizing the unlimited combinations of instrumental colours, along with the exploration of melodic, harmonic and rhythmic musical ideas.

He is also an artist and art instructor, working mostly in oil, pastel and drawing.
