Program Notes

Pleasant Valley, a festival overture by the composer of Green Meadows and Allan-a-Dale overtures, named this composition for a beautiful spot between the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers, at Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The first battle of the Revolutionary War was fought there October 10th, 1774, and General George Washington called this valley Pleasant Valley.
