Program Notes

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. — Henry David Thoreau

Zach Rooksby, Director, Grassfield High School Bands, Chesapeake, Virginia, commissioned Michael Oare to write Pathways. Dedicated to the graduating class of 2011, the title and nature of the work reference the various pathways chosen and those yet to be taken, in all our lives. Graduation from high school is a milestone in one’s life, where young people should certainly be encouraged to “live the life you have imagined.”
