Errata

2008年度課題曲訂正のお知らせ All Japan Band Association (in Japanese)

Program Notes

This work was nominated for the Asahi Composition Award for Wind Orchestra by the Asahi Shimbun Company and All Japan Band Association(AJBA) in 2007 and selected as one of five required pieces of the 2008 All-Japan Band Competition by AJBA.

"Tenma" means a pegasus on which the emperor rode. I imagined a Tenma running freely in the sky and the endless The Path Tenma, and made sounds.

The oriental sound using the perfect 4th and perfect 5ths and the rhythm with impact in this work became a topic. And more than 10 years after the composition, it is still being taken up as a concert program by many groups in Japan.

Among this works composed in recent years, such as The Light Shift of Orient and Sea Goddess many works emphasize the oriental sound. Nowadays, those works have been attracting attention overseas.
