Program Notes

I feel fortunate to have more opportunities to compose music relating to spring, such as Sakura Song and Poem of Spring. This introduction is in the familiar triple meter Renaissance dance style. I have also included simple yet constantly evolving melody and rhythm, to portray the time passage of spring. Therefore, the work’s musicality does not depict a still portrait, but rather a dynamic, flowing scene.

This is the flexible instrumentation arrangement of the original work (2000) for small bands.
