Program Notes
Young Michigan composer Matt Schoendorff brings not only tremendous craft but also an extremely original approach to his composition, exemplified here in a brash, whimsical piece that is mixed with a good dose of humor. The composer is not beyond quoting other great works, as he throws bizarrely orchestrated quotes from Carmina Burana into the musical stew he creates in Pandemonium. Sudden stylistic and dynamic changes abound, adding up to a unique world of sound unlike any other.
