Program Notes

Onward, Ye Peoples! was derived from Sibelius’s Musique religieuse, a large-scale score originally for tenor and harmonium (organ) containing music for Masonic rituals. Composed in 1926/27 and orchestrated in 1938, the imposing Processional originally used a Finnish translation of words by Viktor Rydberg.
