Program Notes

On the Wing strives to depict the flight of an aircraft beginning with the fast-paced take-off in the introduction, to the tranquil themes that represent soaring above the clouds. Through sheer ingenuity and daring, heavier than air flight has become an integral part of our daily lives. On the Wing is a tribute to the people whose sacrifice and tenacity has made such an incredible achievement seem commonplace.

- Program Note by composer

The aggressive opening fanfare provides the catalyst for the entire work as the music moves through a series of textural shifts. After a more subdued middle section, the opening music returns once more in heroic fashion, driving to a thrilling ending.
