Program Notes

Ode is a celebratory composition composed in honor of John Blevins, emeritus director of bands at Upper Arlington High School in Columbus, Ohio and was commissioned by the Upper Arlington Music Boosters on the occasion of Mr. Blevins’ retirement from teaching. The music is a set of variations based on a melody derived from the letters of Mr. Blevins’ name, and pays homage to the lifework of a dedicated and inspiring music educator.
