Program Notes

As the sun begins to set, the nighttimes comes "to life" with spectacular displays that one can only imagine. Rarely noticed by the human eye is the evasive nighthawk who soars above the wooded treetops. Without warning, he dives to the ground in an acrobatic manner while directing his attack towards an unsuspecting prey. In just a matter of seconds the nighthawk is there, and before you know it, he's suddenly gone.

- Program Note from publisher

A slow, dark and mysterious theme serves as a prelude to the main section that explodes with rhythmic energy. Instruments are scored where they sound their very best and the layered themes, interesting harmonies, and variety of percussion parts combine to create an exciting musical journey.

- Program Note from Southwest High School Wind Symphony concert program, 17 December 2015
