Program Notes

About The Native Inhabitants Of The World Of San Pateo, Barry writes,

This narrative work takes the listener on a journey to a long-forgotten world where a primitive and barbaric people carry out their affairs unaware of the ongoings of the civilized universe. A small group of unarmed scientists arrive on the far side of the island and carefully trek the dense terrain towards the native village. They hope to remain unnoticed in their effort to document the ancient tribe. Only the listener can determine if their efforts were successful.

The work combines “primitivist” gestures with driving rhythms and harsh dissonances to propel the narrative forward.
