Program Notes

My Dark-Haired Maid was harmonized by Percy Grainger in about 1899, three years ahead of his beautiful harmonization of Irish Tune from County Derry. My Dark-Haired Maid (or Mo Nighean Dubh in Gaelic) is Grainger working his harmonic magic, “dished up” for band by Chalon Ragsdale.
