Program Notes

Bourgeois composed Molesworth’s Melody in 2005 [sic]. The reference of the work’s title remains unclear -- Bourgeois’ “Molesworth” could depict the Royal Air Force station located near Cambridgeshire or author Geoffrey Willans’ fictional character, Nigel Molesworth. Regardless, listeners will enjoy this pleasant composition comprised of accessible melodies presented in constantly changing rhythmic meters.

- Program Note from Calvin University Symphonic Band concert program, 20 November 2022

Moleworth's Melody is a delightful, memorable work from the late Derek Bourgeois. At times, the music has an elegant, yet subdued tone while moving into a waltz-like setting in other moments.
