Program Notes

Generally speaking, a marimba ensemble has three or four marimbas on the stage, but this work is shared by three marimbists.

The theme is Japanese! Japanese Lion Dance and Japanese Festival Music invite Japanese nostalgia. Listen carefully to the sound of the marimba.

The appeal of this work is that the audience is also interested in the appearance of the performers, and playing from memory makes the visual effect more prominent. I think visual effects lead to great performance.

This work premiered at the Percussion Instrument Volunteer Concert at the Tokyo University of the Arts in 2008.
