Program Notes

Milano is a concert march written before the end of the 19th century. After a long introduction, the march presents three refrains and a trio. Despite the simple form and harmony, Milano presents many beautiful and lyrical lines with alternated sweet and decisive moments. All these musical elements make Milano a traditional Italian march. Ponchielti dedicated this march to the city of Milan, that is the capital of our region.
