Biography

American composer Michael Djupstrom (born 1980, St. Paul, Minnesota) completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in composition at the University of Michigan. His music has garnered many awards including the Lotte Lehman Prize, Morton Gould Young Composer Award, Walter Beeler Composition Prize and the ASCAP/CBDNA Frederick Fennell Prize. His works are published by Bright Press and Boosey & Hawkes. An accomplished pianist, Djupstrom performs with the Phoenix Trio. His composition teachers include Bright Sheng and Betsy Jolas.
