Program Notes
Messaggio was commissioned by a consortium of university bands in 1997 through the coordination of US band director Joel Blahnik of Fish Creek, Wisconsin, and Larry Sutherland, Director of bands from California State University, Fresno, for the 5th WASBE Conference in San Luis Opispo, California. Its premiere was given by the California State University Select Wind Orchestra, Dr. Larry Sutherland conducting.
