Marcus Grant
Biography
1975 Marcus S. Grant (b. 1975) is a professional composer, trumpeter, teacher, clinician, producer, and content creator.
Mr. Grant received his bachelor’s degree in music education at Virginia Commonwealth University and his master’s degree in trumpet performance at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. His primary trumpet teachers were Rex Richardson and Kevin Maloney at VCU, and Joey Tartell at IU.
As a trumpeter, Mr. Grant has performed in prestigious venues and conferences across the country, including the National Trumpet Competition, the International Trumpet Guild Conference, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship, and New York City’s Carnegie Hall. In addition, Marcus’s award-winning compositions and arrangements have been performed and recorded by world class artists and ensembles in more than seven different countries.
Mr. Grant is the co-founder and director of the Trumpeter’s Multi-Track Competition and Seminar, a professor of music theory and aural skills at Virginia Commonwealth University, and contributes compositions and arrangements as a signature artist with the digital sheet music retailer, Musicnotes.com.
