Program Notes

The Little Prince is the best known short story by French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery, translated into 180 languages and dialects, making it one of the most recognized works of world literature. It is considered a children's book, but in reality the book is a metaphor in which issues as profound as the meaning of life, friendship and love are addressed.

In the book, after crashing a flyer and lost in the desert, a small prince in conversation, the narrator reveals his own vision of human stupidity and the simple wisdom of children that most people lose when they grow and become adults.

The little prince on a small planet, in which there are three volcanoes and a rose, one day decides to leave his planet to explore other worlds. There are six known planets, each inhabited by a character: a king, a vain, a drunkard, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer, which show how empty people become as adults. The last person to know this is the flyer on Earth. All the sentences in the book speak for themselves, with many hidden meanings.

Las Aventuras del Principito is a magical composition, expressive and sweet, where the composer's intent is to excite and see the lovely part of life, as seen by children and seeks the goal of this book. The music describes the most significant sections of the book, from the plane crash until the appearance of the Little Prince, the trip to the six planets with their characters and the happy ending that shows the reading and that both excites the reader .
