Program Notes

The King of Love, My Shepherd Is is a an old Irish hymn tune with a lovely text by Henry W. Baker(1821-1877). The Text paraphrases Psalm 23. The King of Love, My Shepherd Is has found some recent fame as a result of being sung at the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales in 1997. This particular arrangement was originally conceived for choir by Dan Forrest, a prominent choral composer and one of my former composition professors. It is my hope that this beautiful piece of choral music will continue to impact audiences in its wind ensemble incarnation.
