Program Notes

The island of Key West, Florida, serves as the inspiration for Kjos Music's newest composer, Chandler Comer. The "daytime" theme depicts the vibrant tropical atmosphere, with rhythmic duets between solo instruments. The middle section's "nighttime" theme portrays the beautiful sunset, cool ocean breeze, and the overall mystique of the island.

Key West Overture is the winning composition of the 2018 Claude T Smith Memorial Band Composition Contest.
