Keaton Marek

Biography

Keaton Marek (b. 1998) is an American composer and student.

Marek is a junior music composition major at Baylor University, where he is a member of the Baylor Symphony Orchestra, Baylor Wind Ensemble, and Baylor Horn Studio. Marek is currently [2021] studying composition with Dr. Scott McAllister and Dr. Ben Johansen. Along with composition, Marek has also studied horn with Mr. Jeffrey Powers during his first two years in college, and he is currently studying horn with Mr. Paul Capehart and Mr. Alton Adkins.

During his time in high school, Marek had two pieces for wind ensemble premiered at the Texas UIL Concert and Sight-Reading competition. Along with large ensemble works, he has also written several pieces for smaller chamber groups and for solo instruments, as well as collaborating with film students in creating scores for their films.

After his studies at Baylor, Marek plans to earn his doctorate in composition and music theory. He would love the opportunity to be a professor of music composition, to help shape the future generation of great musicians.
