Jussi Lampela
Biography
Jussi Lampela (b. 1972) is a Finnish composer/arranger and guitarist.
Mr. Lampela received a master's degree in jazz guitar from the Sibelius Academy in 2002.
He is involved in various arranging and composing jobs, for symphony orchestras, big bands, film/TV and recordings. Credits include compositions and arrangements for various sized ensembles, from duo to a symphony orchestra and many works for TV and the big screen. For 2019 Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taiteen edistämiskeskus) has awarded him a one—year artist grant.
Mr. Lampela has a long-term relationship with Vantaa Pops Orchestra, the only professional symphony-orchestra size pops orchestra in Finland, for whom he arranges music for their concerts and also helps with the concert programming, working as their music producer on varied projects.
Other important and frequent collaborators include Umo Jazz Orchestra, Oulu All Star Big Band, trumpeter Jukka Eskola and the various film scoring gigs as an arranger/orchestrator.
In his spare time he leads his own jazz group, the Jussi Lampela Nonet.
