Program Notes

Joy is the finale movement of Joseph Curiale's Awakening (Songs of the Earth) for orchestra, 1995. The movement was scored for wind band by the composer.

Joy has been described as rambunctious and exciting, evocative of open spaces with a Copland Bernstein cowboy prairie feel.
