Program Notes
This collection of Grade 3 ragtime and early jazz melodies was written and recorded in 1914 by James Reese Europe. Europe was an influential figure who bridged the music of American brass bands with the coming jazz age by introducing the sounds and rhythms of African-American music.
This collection includes Castle Perfect Trot, Hey! There!, Castle Walk, Congratulations, Ballin' the Jack, Castle House Rag, and the Clef Club March.
