James L. Tarver
Biography
James L. Tarver (15 March 1916, Del Rio, Tx. – 7 August 1976, Grand Prairie, Tx.) was an American composer and educator.
Tarver received his education at Sul Ross State College, Texas Technological College, and the Southwestern Conservatory. He played trumpet with numerous dance orchestras, symphony orchestras, military bands, and civic bands. His primary experience in teaching was in the public schools in the El Paso (Texas) area.
His works for band were all composed for school groups, and he used the pseudonym Richard Walker as well as his own name.
