Program Notes
In a Tranquil Little Place was composed for the Buckhorn High School Band from Huntsville, Alabama, directed by Jacob Souder.
This lovely melody begins in the key of E-flat Major and modulates to F Major. When traveling through Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama to arrive in Huntsville, during a trip in the fall of 2017, the composer was inspired by the beautiful scenic drive. When he arrived back home, in Laredo, Texas, he began to sketch the melody to this beautiful work. The inspired writing captures the panoramic views through lyric passages that are expressive and colorful.
