Program Notes

In Memoriam Zach Walker was written in 1968 for the Coatsville High School Band. The composition is unique in that it is abstract and pointillistic while not imposing any great technical demands on the instruments or calling for large percussion requirements.

Zacariah Walker was a black man who was lynched in 1911; T.J. Anderson’s tribute to his memory is a moving, band classic .
