Program Notes
When André Waignein learned of a very talented tuba player from France named Thomas Leleu, he decided this was the time to complete his cycle of works for solo instrument and concert band. As Leleu is a virtuoso, Waignein had to write a complex and challenging solo tuba part. The piece consists of some lyrical and beautiful melodic phrases, but of course also contains challenging fast sections where the soloist can show his or her technical skills.
