Program Notes
Images of Auld Lang Syne was commissioned by Webster Wind Ensemble for the final year of Webster Intermediate School in Clear Creek ISD, in Houston, TX. The Webster Intermediate School was in service of the Johnson Space Center community for over 50 years. The Auld Lang Syne theme was suggested by Kevin Bittner, a member of the Webster Wind Ensemble.
This work consists of eight variations on this well known theme. Each image is very different, with all instruments carrying the theme at one time or another. Some of the images are quite dissonant while others are very serene.
