Biography

Igor Hudadoff (25 December 1926, Rochester, NY. - 29 July 2011, Huntington Station, N.Y.) was an American composer, administrator and author.

Hudadoff began the study of piano at an early age. When he was 11, his family moved to Lakewood, New Jersey, where he graduated from high school in 1944. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1945 and served as a bandsman and librarian in the 2nd Armored Division Band in 1946.

He entered the Eastman School of Music in 1947 and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree in 1951. From June 1951 until May 1952 he was back in the U.S. Army, completing a leaders’ course and later graduating from Officer’s Candidate School.

After being discharged from the army, Hudadoff took a job as instrumental music supervisor in the public schools of Saugerties, New York (1952-1954). His next position was as band director in the Massapequa (New York) schools (1954-1967). During this period, he took graduate studies at Brooklyn College, Queens College, and Hofstra University and was awarded a Master of Science in Administration degree at Hofstra in 1964. From 1967 until his retirement in 1988, he was district director of music in the Farmingdale (New York) public schools.

Hudadoff performed with the Huntington and Massapequa Symphony Orchestras and has held offices in several school administration associations. He was the author of numerous articles for music journals and wrote several instruction books for bands and ensembles.
