Program Notes

Brent Heisinger is Emeritus Professor of Music at San Jose State University (as well as an alumnus), and a great friend to music and music education in the bay area. I played this work as a high school musician, (when it was brand new) and, even as a teenager, was struck by its deeply heartfelt expression of solemnity, reverence, prayerfulness, intimacy and, at the closing, affirmation.

- Program Note by Timothy M. Smith for the San Francisco Wind Ensemble concert program, 15 October 2016
