Program Notes

This piece was commissioned by the Fayetteville-Manilius (N.Y.) Education Foundation for the Wellwood and Eagle Hill Middle School Bands, and was first performed on March 14, 1995, with the composer conducting. Song of the Lake is in a British folk-song style. Festive Dance is a rollicking fun-filled bit of time travel. It progresses from the Medieval and Renaissance sounds of the opening to the juicy polychords of the finale.
