Program Notes

A brilliant and full textured brass choir composition written to celebrate the life of Frank Bencriscutto, Director of Bands and Professor of Music at the University of Minnesota for thirty-two years

- Program Note by publisher and Wikipedia

Hats off to Thee was written as a tribute to Dr. Frank Bencriscutto, director of bands at the University of Minnesota. Zdechlik worked very close to him for years, so he wrote this piece to commemorate him and celebrate his achievements. While this piece is somewhat somber, it also has a triumphant character that is supposed to represent Dr. Bencriscutto’s many accomplishments and overall spirit.
