Program Notes

Inspired by the Hebron Harvest Fair in Connecticut, this musical work captures the feeling of visiting one of the agricultural fairs held throughout New England every autumn. Harvest Fair feels like a celebration of country life, with melodies reminiscent of fiddle tunes, calliope music, and a Ferris wheel affording high views of the whole rollicking affair. Liberal use of temple blocks evokes images of horses and farm machinery. Not only the musical imagery, but the memorable melodies, rhythms, and scoring make this an extremely fun work.
