Program Notes

Governor's Cup March was composed to honor Kenton J. Hull Jr. for his long tradition of marching and concert band excellence. Mr. Hull was the Director of Bands at Two Rivers High School from 1963-1970 and at McGavock High School from 1971-1977. The Governor’s Cup, repeatedly won by Mr. Hull and his bands, is a trophy awarded to the Tennessee State Champion at Middle Tennessee State University’s Contest of Champions, the oldest consecutive-running marching band competition in the United States.
