Program Notes

This concert march was commissioned by Ishikawa Prefecture and dedicated to the 46th National Athletic Meeting in 1991 in Japan. It was first performed on March 21st, 1990, by the All-Ishikawa Prefectural High School Band in the Kanazawa Kanko Kaikan Concert Hall, under the direction of the composer. The Trio is built on a traditional Japanese song in which the lyrics celebrate the joy of athletic competition among people of every age.
