Program Notes

The California Band Director's Association (CBDA) commissioned Claude T. Smith to compose a work for symphonic band to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their State High School Honor Bands program. The resulting piece, GALA XXV: A Symphonic Overture for Band, was premiered at the Cabot College Auditorium in Hayward, California on February 11, 1982 conducted by Claude T. Smith.
